About 16bitos.com

This project started out in 2001. It was in full-swing two years later and by late 2003 most versions had already been secured. As collecting slowed down for rare versions, strategic partnerships with other technicians, programmers, and collectors set the stage for moving ahead.

By mid-2004, our DOS inventory spanned virtually the entire catalog, with only three ultra-rare versions missing out of many collected. We expanded our research, working with forensic technicians and insiders at IBM® - these contacts led to valuable acquisitions.

More than 10,000 hours was spent collecting, examining, archiving, researching, and cataloging the Disk Operating System. 16bitos.com lays claim to being the world's largest single repository of this genealogy. The website is now in its third generation release.
